BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Aerotech SteelFiber composite shafts recorded a Top-Five finish and a near tournament high 73.6 percent in Greens in Regulation (T3) at the Memorial Tournament, held this weekend at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. Playing Bridgestone irons (4-PW) with Aerotech SteelFiber i95 taper tip constant weight shafts, the Top-Five player is a two-time, first-team All-American for Georgia Tech and former United States Men's Amateur Golf Champion.

Delivering the power of graphite and the stability of steel on professional tours, Aerotech SteelFiber shafts feature a high-modulus graphite core and nearly 60 miles of steel fiber covering the surface of each shaft, providing golfers with the power of graphite and the stability of steel.

“The 2009 PGA Tour season continues to shine a spotlight on Aerotech shafts, and we are particularly proud that our SteelFiber shafts performed so well at the Memorial,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “Next to the four majors and The Players, the Memorial is probably one of the most sought after titles of the year. The depth of high-profile players in the field makes the competition incredibly intense and the layout of the course is among the most challenging on Tour. This is an extremely tough combination but one that really allows us to demonstrate the performance benefits of our unique composite technology.”

Hilleary explains the Aerotech SteelFiber shaft design is unlike any other shaft on the pro tours and it brings together graphite and steel fiber to seamlessly create a perfect blend of power and stability. The shafts deliver extreme performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. While the shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy. Originally developed for irons the SteelFiber technology now enhances the performance of hybrids, fairway woods and drivers.

Headquartered in Bellingham, Wash., Aerotech Golf designs and manufactures high-performance golf shafts, including the award-winning SteelFiber, PowerCoil and Players Spec brands. For more information about Aerotech Golf shafts, call  888.733.8988  or go to www.aerotechgolfshafts.com.
