Mizuno Announces the Launch of Their New MX-100 Hybrid Iron Set

Mizuno, the industry leader in golf innovation, introduces the MX-100 Hybrid iron set with Y-Tune Technology to deliver the most technologically advanced Super Game Improvement iron set the industry has to offer. The MX-100 is ideal for the mid to high handicap player who is looking for maximum forgiveness, ease of launch, and maximum enjoyment on the golf course.

The new MX-100s get their unheard forgiveness from fundamental research that identified the most common miss-hitting profiles of mid and high handicap players. The findings from Mizuno's unmatched Global R&D Team led to the development of a clubhead design that matches the effective sweetspot area of most players. The result is Y-Tune Technology, which utilizes a variety of design technologies to expand and extend the sweet area out toward the toe, where most miss-hits occur. By modifying the shape of the sole and the depth of the cavity, Mizuno design engineers were able to develop a new cavity pad design. This Y-shaped cavity pad design strategically places mass and thus the sweet area out towards the toe for more effective forgiveness.

Y-Tune Technology and an "oversized" sweet area is carried throughout the set, from the easy to launch, maximum distance hybrids (4-5 irons), to the ultra-deep pocket cavity design and extreme perimeter weighting for a high, easy launch and maximum forgiveness in the mid irons (6-7), and the deep undercut cavity with solid power bar design for more accurate and better scoring shots in the short irons (8-GW). The hybrid

#4 and #5 also utilize an innovative "Drop Down Crown" which lowers COG for an easy, high launch, and also allows these hybrids to be custom fit to a golfer's exact specifications, something that only Mizuno offers. These features combined with a super wide sole and U-grooves for consistent playability from all types of lies make the MX-100s the most forgiving Mizuno irons ever.

"At Mizuno, we are constantly improving upon technology that enhances performance on the course," said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. "With breakthrough Y-Tune Technology and an exotic hybrid set make-up, the MX-100s will offer the maximum amount of forgiveness and also provide the necessary confidence to increase enjoyment on the course while lowering golfers' scores. There simply isn't anything out there that is more forgiving or more playable than the Mizuno MX-100 hybrid set with Y-Tune Technology."

The MX-100 hybrid set will be offered with True Temper® Dynalite Gold® XP shafts (R300,S300) standard in steel and Mizuno's Exsar IS4 shafts (regular, lite) standard in graphite. Also standard on the MX-100 will be the exclusive Mizuno/Golf Pride® M-21 58 Round grip. The suggested retail price for a set (4-GW) of MX-100 irons is $700 (steel) and $850 (graphite). The MX-100™ hybrid iron set will be available in right and left-handed models and custom shaft and grip options as well as length and lie options are available through Mizuno's Custom Club department. Mizuno will begin shipping the MX-100 hybrid set to accounts in October.
